I took the paper out and left it that way..no foam. Works great for me using phone..maybe because phone music player is not as powerful as ipod/mp3 player or I'm just going deaf from all the years of loud car audio. I did a Google search for "Kramer Mod" myself and it came up second! I'm happy about that. Like I said in the blog post, I had a hard time finding one definitive tutorial on how to do this. I had to wing it a little bit but it wasn't that hard to begin with. Anyone should be able to do this same modification to a set of headphones with a similar assembly.
